james was our youngest son he had an older brother john and sister tracey he was loved and wanted from the day i fell pregnant his older sister elizabeth was born asleep on 16 april 1985 she was a lovely wee girl with red hair the same as her dad so perfect but she was needed as an angel i found out i was pregnant in june with james it was a long 9 months we all wanted to see him so much on 27th feb james was born and we were all so happy he was a great baby always smiling he was walking at 10 months and he shared a bedroom with his big bro which he loved but big bro always got into trouble for the mess and it was always james making it he loved to take things to bits and build them up again we moved to a bigger house james was not to happy the day we moved as it was his 10th birthday so no party but he then had a room to himself so did his big bro and both rooms ended in a mess like his brother and sister james did well at school like john and tracey he went to hill of beath primary then onto beath high school in cowdenbeath.James join aircadets in lochgelly he made loads of friends there and loved going to RAF condar so they could use the gliders he was very pleased with himself when he was allowed to fly solo big bro john was in army cadets so lots of competitiveness between them who had best pressed trousers and best polished shoes thats when mum got smart and said if you can press your uniforms then you can do school uniforms as well so i did not have to do them james was an apprentice joiner at roysth dockyard he work for babcock and loved it when all the big ships and aircraft carriers came in for refitting james used to love baby sitting for his brother's baby girl kayleigh his (niece) and his sisters son liam (nephew) more so liam as liam had ADHD and was a handful at times. james got his driving license at 17.5 yrs so he did not have to spend an hour traveling to work he got himself a wee red fiat punto after passing his test we paid for him to go for his pass plus because he was so young and we had heard about all young people dying as the did not have enough road experience james was a good driver he used to follow us when we drove up north and he loved just going for runs in his car with his nephew liam the two of them singing 500 miles by the proclaimers at top of their voices james did a parachute jump at 19yrs to help raise funds for maggies cancer care in fife we went with him i was so scared but he loved it when he had did his jump he came running over to his dad and i he was so hyper and wanted to do it all again we were so proud of him but glad he had both feet back on the ground james got engaged to hayley in april 06 whom he had meet at aircadets when they both 13yrs old in june 07 tracey james sister got married to bobsy her partner of 10yrs it was a great day and we got some lovely photos we have a great photo of john,tracey and james this is the first photo of the three of them together since james was a baby so we treasure this photo then everything changed for us drew and i went up north for a 2 wk break james and hayley were coming up to spend second wk with us as james loved visiting our friends at nigg then on the morning of 11th aug we got visit from police to say james had died in car crash we just could not believe it as james was a good driver and the road police said he died on was not a road that james used it was a long drive from nigg to fife not sure how we did it but we did the police said they would drive us down but drew wanted to drive himself we meet my sister morag and her husband kevin at our house to be told james was not driving it was his pal ally they appeared to be going to kirkcaldy and ally lived in that area so that's why they were on that road their pal david was also in the car that was hayleys brother james and ally died at the scene david about one hour later in hospital our life had just been turned up side down drew then had to tell john and tracey the news which was very hard john had just finished his night shift and tracey and bobsy were on honeymoon and had to make arrangements to fly back to scotland all police could say about accident was ally was inexperienced as he had only been driving for 2 yrs we never knew james had so many friends until the day of his funeral there was hundreds of young people there from school,aircadets and dockyard he would be proud of the send of he got and he also got the piper that he wanted, james had been at a friends funeral with a piper and he said thats what i want mum i had told him that i would be away long before him little did we know life has been very empty without you james we all love and miss you so much so please keep looking after us love and miss you always xxxxxxxxxxxx mum,dad,john,tracy,kayleigh,callum,tracey,bobsy, liam and your extended family xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

A Poem For My Friend
Although it feels like yesterday, you hopped inside and yous drove away!
The feelin of the dark unknown, Your seeds were planted but not yet sown!
You wer so young too young to go,and how you felt we'll never know !
Not a day goes by my dearest friend , i dont think about your tragic end!
My eyes are wet and my heart does bleed , when i think about that tiny seed !
That didnt have a chance to grow, how you wouldve have grown we'll never know !
All thats left of you my friend, is a lasting memory until the end !
We do have photos and cherished things, but nothing like your angels wings!
They say that time can help one heal, but james thats not part of the deal
Theres things we wish you could have seen , and places we wish you could have been
Theres Kids we wish wish you could have met , and weddings we wished you could attend
So here i am praying for you , trying to smile and pull on through!
And i will admit it's really hard , and i wish i could give you more than a card
So do me a favour and keep my seat warm, and keep an eye out for me coming along !
